Break exercise boredom with a cardio blast

It’s not just repetitive cardio activities such as climbing endlessly on the stair machine or spinning round and round on the stationary bike that can bore our socks off. Weight-training can be a drag sometimes, too. Doing that same squat or biceps curl definitely can get old after awhile.

To energize your weight-training sessions and burn a couple hundred extra calories at the same time, try adding some “cardio blasts” to your usual routine.

A cardio blast is a one-to-two-minute activity that you can do in between weight-training sets so that you’re not just standing around idly.

Besides keeping your mind engaged, these activities keep your heart rate up and help you burn fat. You’ll also get a mood boost from all those feel-good chemicals your brain is pumping out as you sweat.

Plus, combining weight-training and cardio activities is a great time-saver if you’re rushed for your workout.

Here are some ideas for different cardio blasts that you can try, or you can come up with your own. Just find an open space where you can kick up your heels.

*Jumping jacks

*Skipping in place

*Jogging in place or on a treadmill

*Front or side kicks

*Step-ups

*Knee lifts (alternating from right to left)

These exercises are great. Especially in tandem... after 18 minutes of 1 minute intervals I can't deny the burn.
Duh.
what did u expect from this article ?? huh ??? go have sex.. thats exciting...
how about jumping rope--that should be included and could be something no one would think of, easy to pack a rope with you or the gym may have one
I love stuff that makes you get in shape and have fun at the same time!!!
Yay for acting like a kid!!!
How 'bout spinning.....if you don't throw up?
Haha, not so sure about spinning, because I would throw up, LoL!  I usually do the knee lifts, really fast, and then switch to the side kicks, takes up a little room for the kicks, but I always manage to find a space, plus I noticed that since I've been doing this, I can kick even higher, so watch out Shaq, I can kick your butt too, haha!!
I got tired reading this babble, took a nap, ate a piece of cake, had a glass of  skim milk, walked upstairs to the bathromm, relieved myself, and came back down then sat on a chair to read the paper before supper.those stairs are hell!!
I love to work out, never really get bored. I was a jogger for 30 years as you age things happen to your bones and pain sets in. I'm 64 now and been through alot also doing the cancer thing, but it's part of life as you get older and I have always loved to exercise. Be happy for what you can do! Don't complain if you don't like to workout go for a walk with the dog it's good for both of you and use what you have left in life to have fun in what you do. Exercise should be something to look forward to whatever it is. Use that body that god gave you and keep it in shape as best you can manage when you feel good. Every little bit helps. The old bag has spoken.
This is a horrible idea if you are trying to gain mass.  You'll be sapped after the 2 minute cardio splurge to even lift heavy.  I don't suggest this if you want to gain muscle.
If you know you need to exercise get off you fat can and do it. Stop talking about it just do it. Do go to a website to bad mouth people. If this one doesn't help find one that will. Some of you nothing but dumb and useless commits.I feel if you know you need to loss weight get a trainer!!! Stop being CHEAP
i love to keep things fun and mix things up a little hula hoops excercize ball and a little jump rope can fill in on rainy days or even a little dance (enjoy life a litte :)
wow sonya, check yourself. dont call us dumb. Quote :"Some of you nothing but dumb and useless commits". WOW. nice, we are all 200% dumber having read your comment.
I'm Superman
