We all love Spider-Man because, as superheroes go, we can relate to him. Sure, he’s got that special Spidey sense, yet he’s not the size of a brick building and he doesn’t eat villains for lunch.

It wont get you very far at all. If you want to be strong, quick, powerful, get an olympic bar set ($100-150) and get trained in olympic lifting. You will get a far, FAR stronger core, greater balance, and dexterity doing olympic lifts than anything else.

Bulking up requires eating more calories than your body burns and adequate protein (0.6-1g/lb of body mass), which is not hard at all. You dont need protein shakes (some are quite tasty) or supplements to do this. Steroids wont make you magically gain weight. It requires a positive energy balance to gain weight, period. Even with steriods you have to know what you are doing to get anywhere with it.

For those that think you have to get super muscley, fat, and/or big to be quick and strong take a look at this vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jr1FuaoDco

Yes, he is an elite athlete, but he only weighs 205 and certainly doesnt look huge. This video shows him snatching (ground to overhead) ~360lbs (160kg), clean&pressing (ground to shoulders to overhead) ~400lbs (180kg), and full squating (not your typically commercial gym 1/2 or 1/4 squat)580lbs (260kg).

The olympics are the absolute tightest competition for drug testing, so there is no extra steroid strength here.

Look into the workout that Bruce Lee did. There was a lot of weight lifting involved in his training. Weight lifting doesnt necessarily make you big... you gotta eat big to get big.

Shape up like Spider-Man

Why is there no print-friendly versions of Fit List blog entries? Some of the content on MSNBC is fabulous, but the backwardness of the site setup is breathtaking.

Shape up like Spider-Man

Have you guys seen Toby without a shirt? A vegan diet is just healthier. Also, too many people think that more protein is healthier. Excess protein is not stored by the body, it is excreted by your kidneys, along with the calcium leached from your bones.

Shape up like Spider-Man

Yea and if your kids are vegan also they just might die like the little baby starved on a vegan diet.

Shape up like Spider-Man

Toby and Chris are twigs. You might want to look into what Christian did to get his decent Batman physique.

One could jsut as well say the Atkins Diet (which I do not advocate. It is flawed in the same way as the vegan diet.) makes it a lot easier to maintain or lose weight. The vegan diet is garbage. It lacks many nutrients that are vital for health... one of them being calcium. As such, it is no where near as healthy as a well balanced diet.

The pH crap that is constantly spewed by vegetarians has been shown time and time again in studies to have no significant effect on health. Non-vegetarians do not need to worry about calcium leech anyway because they get plenty in their diets. Adequate vegetable and fruit intake would counteract this "acidity" anyway.

Excess protein is deaminated then burned for energy or stored as glycogen. The amines are excreted via urine (processesed by the kidneys). The only studies that show excessive protein (2+g/lb body weight) damages the kidneys is when the subjects already have significant kidney problems. I am not aware of any study done with healthy subjects in which there is any evidence excessive protein has caused kidney problems.

Shape up like Spider-Man

Aaron: You wouldnt be complaining if you were getting paid like them.

Bryan: You are ignorant to think vegetarian/vegan diets are flawed.
